In the 6 years I lived in NYC I only visited The Cloisters the Frick and the Cathedral of St. John the Devine once...same with the Empire State Building. The places you visit when you have out of town guests ...or you are are saying good bye ( to NYC)
Ancient textiles and coughs, breathing even, don't go well together. For longevity anyway. Maybe the voiceover was just cos it was getting too crowded. Who knows! I wasn't there. Great tour though to a place that I shall never see otherwise.
What a great photo trip, every bit as evocative as places I’ve seen in England. Fascinating history and art. And I can revisit on your newsletter. Thanks!!
You're welcome Sister! The park that it is in has a fascinating history going all the way back to the Revolutionary War. It also has the best sledding hill in the whole area. Spent many a snow day zipping down the hill with one of the kids I used to babysit.
The Cloisters is one of my favorite places in Manhattan. I used to live on Fort Washington, at West 187th, and would go up to The Cloisters when I could.
Yeah that’s really close. Do you remember the Jacob Javits playground that is across the street from the Fort Tryon park entrance? About 2 years ago it had a total reno, great playground now.

I'm glad that you got a chance to photograph such a great setting before you leave NYC. Great pics.
Thanks cynmac!

Beautiful pics, Ziggy. THanks for sharing them with us.
I love the wedding photo, and the ones focusing on the architectural details.

Incredible. What an amazing spot.
The no-surprise tidbit: I've had that very Wiki page on The Cloisters in an open tab all week.
I've never been inside, so...thanks for being my legs. ✊❤️
You're welcome!
Beautiful photos! I have always wanted to go here and need to fix that, soon.
Thanks! Yes you should, amazing place.
Well captured, kudos.
Thank you!
Whoa.
It is a whoa kind of place.
Looks like your second favorite picture is somebody kicking out a couple of Pepe the frog characters - all very good -

No clear memory of that. But my time there was 35 years ago. It has passed so quickly.
Wonderful, personal tour, Ziggy, thank you.
You’re welcome!
