I was on IMdB to make sure I was spelling Hermione Gingold's name correctly in a non-comment on Wonkette, and then from there I was looking at Robert Preston, and saw the movie in his "known for" list. Then I watched the trailer and went, "Man, I had forgotten how over-the-top this movie is." So I thought I'd suggest it. Besides, it has quite a who's-who list of names in it, at least for that time period. And you can rarely go wrong with a Blake Edwards film.
the best part of any Mel Brooks movie is when people don't get the joke. Blazing Saddles is right up there with (yeah yeah not Mel Brooks) with Silver Streak what with the scathing societal critique strewn in.
Gods, I love this film. Like Eileen, I could rattle off entire scenes verbatim. Because I tend to turn into a pumpkin by 10:30 p.m., the chat will be happening way past my bedtime here in the UK. I'll watch the film beforehand, though, and maybe even find myself singing, "I get no kick from champagne..." in my dreams.

I've met a lot of racists and they all love Blazing Saddles for the racism. They have no clue it was making fun of people like themselves. 😂

This is one of the funniest movies ever made. This movie probably couldn't be made today. Excellent choice!
