Wonkette Movie Night Special Event! Feb. 14: Birds Of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn)
"Psychologically speaking, vengeance rarely brings the catharsis we hope for."
A Wonkette Movie Night Special Event!
Anti-Valentine’s Day for those of us tired of being surrounded by pink hearts, cupids and the word sweetheart! Alone on Valentine’s Day? Now you are not, come watch a super fun movie with me. Even if you are not alone still come join us and bring your friend!
All are welcome! Just go to Wonkette at 8pm ET (movie starts at 9pm ET) for pre-movie socializing. Find the movie on your own preferred device, I list the streaming options available, I try to find free versions but sometimes it may need to be rented. I give a 15 minute countdown in the comments so we can all start watching at the same time. Then throughout the movie there’s trivia and it is expected that you WILL talk during the movie! It’s a great way to watch a movie with friends who, although located far apart, can share a good time.
Birds of Prey is available with subscription on Netflix and Max. For $3.99 on Vudu, YouTube, Google Play and Apple TV. On cable tv, the edited version is available on TNT and TBS.
Let’s watch some awesome women kick some dirtbags’ asses!
6pm out east actually. Shame I'm an early and should probably go spend another hour on the next post. I admit I gave up on Suicide Squad early. Superhero movies are all inherently dumb by nature and require a certain willing suspension of disbelief but I found Harley Quinn a bridge too far. Her superpowers are basically "she's crazy and fucks the Joker" and I don't see that as sufficient to go toe-to-toe with the Justice League. But she IS Margot Robbie so here I am.
As it happens, Steve Shives just did a review of one of the early Harley Quinn stories: https://youtu.be/kPFglnM4ZHI
