Best review ever!
"The movie PAUL is a crude science fiction comedy. Two buddies and sci-fi fans from England visit America and encounter a foul-mouthed, bisexual, atheist alien named Paul. Paul has escaped from a secret, government testing facility. He needs to hitch a ride with the two sci-fi fans so he can rendezvous with his mother ship before the government agents recapture him and harvest his brain. What follows next is a classic chase movie with the unlikely trio bumbling their way across the Southwest, one step ahead of the government.
PAUL has some funny moments poking fun at science fiction stories. However, its ultimate intent is to promote a very strong atheistic, even anti-Christian, worldview with a heavy emphasis on Evolution. The movie grows more and more bold in its secular humanist proselytizing. For example, Paul, the pro-evolution alien, comes from a progressive world where everyone is bisexual. The movie paints Paul, the title character, as a hero who frees the simple-minded humans, including a young Christian woman, from their moral boundaries. The movie also has almost constant foul language and much lewd content. It also promotes marijuana use. PAUL is abhorrent."
All are welcome! Just go to Wonkette at 8pm ET (movie starts at 9pm ET) for pre-movie socializing. Find the movie on your own preferred device, I list the streaming options available, I try to find free versions but sometimes it may need to be rented. I give a 15 minute countdown in the comments so we can all start watching at the same time. Then throughout the movie there’s trivia and it is expected that you WILL talk during the movie! It’s a great way to watch a movie with friends who, although located far apart, can share a good time.
I would not know that this movie existed, but for Wonkette Movie Night! Thank you ZiggyWiggy, for making the magic happen!
