The Second Annual Wonktober Frightfest
Get your scare on for the month of October. Movie links included(highlighted in lavender.)
Starting with the original Alien from 1979, with a Wonkette favorite Sigourney Weaver and one of the best kitties in a movie, Jonesy. Available for $3.99 on Prime, YouTube, Vudu and Apple TV.
Then onto the truly creepy classic The Haunting (1963) based on Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House (1959.) Available for free on the Internet Archive.
Things get hairy for the third week with An American Werewolf In London (1981) with amazing special effects for the time and some freaky mutant Nazis. Available for free on the Internet Archive.
The weekend before Halloween we will end the month with a zombie double feature. Starting at 6pm PT/9pm ET with Day Of The Dead (1985.) Available for free on YouTube.
We will take a fifteen minute break between movies and start the amazing Korean zombie film, Train To Busan (2016) at 8pm PT/11pm ET(for our East coast night owls!) Available for free w/ads on YouTube, in Korean with English subtitles.
There will be pre-movie cartoons of course!
The Movie Night post goes up at 8pm ET for pre-movie socializing and the movie starts at 9pm ET(unless otherwise noted.) I give a countdown so we can all start at the same time.
All are welcome! Cue the movie up on your preferred viewing device, open up Wonkette in another place so you can chat, quote, answer trivia, share memories and have fun with friends as we all watch a movie at the same time even as we are scattered geographically.
It’s a moment to stop thinking about all the bad shit, just for 2 hours, to catch your breath and recharge.
I am so glad you included "The Haunting" such a classic and so much better than the remake!
Ghost sex, Yo'!
I loved the Train to Busan. It was well done.
